Max F. Eysenbach, 95, works on a tracing as he prepares to paint a miniature watercolor during a class in Homewood, Ill., in this November 2008 clipping from the Southtown Star. Eysenbach, who grew up in Lima before moving to Lakewood around 1930, was married Dec. 6, 1941, the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the Army in New Guinea, Indonesia and the Philippines during World War II. Following the war, he operated a painting and decorating business in the Chicago area, where he died in 2019 at the age of 105.
