Rebecca Fritz Boyd appears in a photograph with her son. The wife of James Doud Boyd, Rebecca Fritz Boyd died of smallpox in March 1864. Her sister-in-law, Margaret Boyd Davison, wrote to her husband, George Davison, who was serving in the Union Army, that “Doud’s (her brother’s) children will be just as well taken care of as long as I have the care of them as our own. Poor Doud will feel it most.”
