“Santa Claus parked his reindeer this morning,” the Lima Citizen wrote November 23, 1962, “and rode into the Public Square on a fire truck in his annual pre-Christmas visit to open the holiday season. Hundreds of youngsters and parents formed a welcoming committee for him, and thousands of Christmas gift wishes were whispered into his ear.”
