In this photo from the Lima Citizen, an assortment of ghouls, goblins and clowns hit the streets for Beggars’ Night in Lima in October 1957. The custom of trick-or-treating began in Lima in 1935, with one official declaring it was easier to pass out treats than spend the next day dealing with the aftermath of tricks.
